?Facebook Sues Namecheap

There’s a lawsuit against Namecheap and Whoisguard, filed in Arizona this week, for registering domain names aiming to deceive people by pretending to be affiliated with Facebook ads.
“We regularly scan for domain names and apps that infringe our trademarks to protect people from abuse. We found that Namecheap’s proxy service, Whoisguard, registered or used 45 domain names that impersonated Facebook and our services, such as instagrambusinesshelp.com, facebo0k-login.com and whatsappdownload.site.
We sent notices to Whoisguard between October 2018 and February 2020, and despite their obligation to provide information about these infringing domain names, they declined to cooperate. ”
Thus, Facebook got angry and this followed:
“We don’t want people to be deceived by these web addresses, so we’ve taken legal action. ”
Way back in 2019 Facebook filed a similar lawsuit against OnlineNIC – another domain register and their proxy service.
Be careful not to get anything even remotely resembling the words face, book, whatsapp or Zuck-something.

FEATURED STM THREAD: We’ve all been noobs once, even the STM mods.
|
We had an interesting discussion on the forum this week. One of the members digged out an old thread from 2014, where one of our mods (matuloo) asked for help, frustrated from a dating campaign that just died for him. Several members jumped in and asked about what he thinks about that particular campaign and how he views those problems now, with 7 years experience with PAID traffic under his belt. Matuloo shared all the details about that campaign and what helped him to turn it around. And morale of the story? We have all been noobs once, even the most experienced super affiliates had to start somewhere and all of them went through the same struggle as any other newbie. Those who don’t give up, will succeed in the end 🙂 |
Stay tuned for the next edition of MRKTRS WKLY.
