Twitter Tests 3 New Ad Formats

This week Twitter’s launching pilot tests for what it calls Interactive TextProduct Explorer, and Collection Ads.

Here’s a super quick summary:

Interactive Text Ads

They’ll help brands tap into text with a larger, bolder typeface than the standard Twitter timeline font.

Advertisers will be able to highlight 3 words in their ad copy attached to clickable links to landing pages chosen by the brand. There are going to be 10 highlight colour options to help ads catch the user’s attention.

Brands like Oreo, Bud Light and Wendy’s are going to be testing this new format.

Product Explorer

Consumers will be able to see a 360-degree view in 3D of a brand’s product by swiping and rotating with their finger. If they like the product, they can click directly on the ad’s shop button and head to the advertiser’s website.

Collection Ads

Enabling brands to showcase one larger ‘hero image’ with up to five smaller thumbnails per tweet. The hero image remains static but the users can scroll through the thumbnail images all of which will drive them to different websites and landing pages.

A few brands like New Balance, Lexus, Bose and “a few other select brands in the U.S.” will be piloting Product Explorer and Collection Ads.
